The Writers' Well: A Weekly Recap of the Best Kidslit Blog Posts

This week has been busy and eventful in the best possible way.  My husband turned in his graduate thesis on Tuesday, and he's officially completed his Master's in Communication Management from the University of Southern California!  I'm very proud of him.  It's interesting that just as he's completed his work, I will be beginning mine.  I start the VCFA MFA program this July!  It's hard to believe how quickly the time has passed.

There are a lot of great posts to cover, so let's plunge right into the well.

Auctions!
Day by Day Writer noted that there are two auctions going on that writers may like to participate in.  There is this one benefiting diabetes research, and another one that benefits flood relief in Nashville.  Speaking of difficult issues, Sarah Wilson Etienne has a good post on how when we face difficult situations it's best to put it into our work.

For Fun
I loved WriterJenn's post on how The Muse dropped in for a visit.  Funny how the muse always seems to come when you're hard at work on something else.

Ever wonder what a Writer's Customer Service hotline would be like?  Check out Pen and Ink's version here.

Quite a few bloggers have been doing the A-Z posts.  I wondered what writers would choose for the tricky X, Y, and Z posts.  I thought Bish Denham's post Z is for Zedonk was inspired.  Don't know what a Zedonk is?  Neither did I!

Doctor Who fans will love Lori Ann Grover's post on her favorite doctor.  My fave is David Tennant.  I was so sad to see him go!

Writing Techniques
Elaine Marie Alphin has an interesting post on Sleep Writing.

Also, Jordan McCollum continues her series on Backstory.

Interviews
Over at Cynsations, there's an interview of Author-Editor Shana Corey (Random House).

Kay Cassidy, author of The Cinderella Society, is interviewed over at Market My Words.

Lori Calabrese interviews The Turning author, Helen Ellis.

Rhonda Hayter, author of The Witchy Worries of Abbie Adams, is interviewed over at Literary Asylum.

Suzanne Young has an interview, book trailer, and reviews of Jessica Brody, author of The Karma Club.  Carrie Jones interviewed her, too (here).

Janet Fox interviews author Jennifer Cervantes (Tortilla Sun).

Writing Motivation
This week was NaPiBoWriWee (National Picture Book Writing Week) hosted at Paula Yoo's blog.

Claudia Harrington has motivational quotes from Lisa Yee and Rosemary Brosnan.

Book Releases
Holly Black's White Cat came out on Tuesday, May 4th!  I've been looking forward to reading it.

Please feel free to share other posts that you've enjoyed this week.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Hey Beverley, thanks for another great Writers Well. And thanks for including the two auctions on my blog.

I've got one more link for you. Today, I've got an interview with Farrer Strauss Giroux Books for Young Readers editor Frances Foster on Valerie Hobbs' new book The Best Last Days of Summer, which Frances edited. It's part of Valerie's blog tour this week, and commenters have the chance to win a T-shirt or copy of the book. Here's the link: http://tinyurl.com/2dt8eqk

Thanks again!
